Irrigation is best when run in the very early morning before sunrise. This ensures minimum evaporation, but allows any standing water to evaporate when the sun rises and thus minimizes fungus. Adjusting watering times to best suit the type and maturity of the plants being watered by that zone can also save you money by not over-watering. This also promotes better root growth and plant health.
